Clinical Manager

Job Description
Anova is seeking an experienced Clinical Manager to ensure the delivery of integrated, high-quality health interventions. The role encompasses HIV testing and self-screening, PrEP provision, ARV treatment and viral load monitoring, TB and STI screening and treatment, sexual and reproductive health services, prevention of vertical transmission, post-violence care, and HPV screening. The Clinical Manager is responsible for establishing linkages to care, managing healthcare needs, ensuring treatment adherence, and driving continuous improvement in service delivery in alignment with NACOSA, NDoH, and Global Fund standards.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Oversee implementation of AGYW/AYP biomedical interventions in the district.
  • Serve as the direct line manager for the biomedical clinical field team.
  • Participate in recruitment and training needs identification for all biomedical staff.
  • Provide leadership through example, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.
  • Facilitate monthly and ad hoc staff meetings and conduct bi-annual performance reviews.
  • Monitor staff timesheets and ensure compliance with HR protocols.
  • Compile and submit monthly reports to the Programme Manager.
  • Identify champions for portfolios such as HTS or QA.

Strategic Implementation

  • Implement AGYW/AYP programmes guided by NACOSA and Global Fund requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies, NDoH, NACOSA, and company SOPs.
  • Report unsafe activities and uphold organizational guidelines and agreements.

Mentoring and Technical Support

  • Support Registered Nurses in implementing case management tools and NIMART services.
  • Facilitate complex case discussions with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Oversee operational planning and management of service delivery indicators and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Provide mentoring and training support to Nurse Mentors and clinical staff.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all guidelines, policies, SOPs, and tools are accessible.

Quality Assurance and Clinical Governance

  • Stay updated with clinical developments, training, and relevant policies.
  • Set goals and interventions for quality service delivery.
  • Ensure medical equipment is functional and infection control policies are followed.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance programmes, including:
    • Bi-annual clinical staff assessments
    • Rapid Test Continuous Quality Improvement for HIV RDTs
    • Clinical compliance assessments with NACOSA
    • Monthly folder audits for key indicators (HIV+, STI, TB)
    • Oversight of complaints, compliments, and client satisfaction surveys

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing (General, Midwifery, Community, or Psychiatric Nursing).
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council.
  • NIMART and Sexual and Reproductive Health training.
  • Clinical assessment, diagnosis, and primary health care experience advantageous.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a primary health care setting.
  • At least 2 years’ management experience.
  • Experience in facilitation, capacity building, and community nursing.
  • Extensive experience in HIV/AIDS, STI, and TB treatment and care.
  • Experience working with AGYW/AYP is an advantage.
