Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a driven Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in the full operational management of Gauteng stores. The role focuses on leading teams, achieving store targets, managing inventory levels in line with customer demand, and producing accurate operational reports through effective data collection and analysis.
Minimum Requirements
Essential:
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum 5 years’ Retail/FMCG experience across all retail departments, including Receiving, Administration, Cash Office, or Sales Floor Management
- Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience
- At least 2 years’ experience using Unisolv, SAP, or QlikView
- Previous experience with Kronos
Advantageous:
- Relevant Retail/FMCG qualification
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Store Manager with end-to-end store operations
- Manage daily HR administration, including leave management, working hours, and staff scheduling
- Drive performance management and ensure personal development plans are implemented
- Ensure daily ordering is completed timeously and maintain optimal stock levels
- Manage stock flow from receiving to sales floor
- Plan, coordinate, and execute biannual stock takes with the Store Admin Manager
- Control and reduce shrinkage
- Regulate customer compliments and complaints, ensuring swift resolution
- Ensure all customer queries and complaints are addressed timeously
- Enforce compliance with merchandising standards
- Plan, implement, and maintain promotional stock and displays
- Ensure adherence to labelling, pricing, and layout standards across the store
- Drive achievement of all store objectives and performance targets
Competencies
Essential:
- Proven retail administration and store management experience across receiving, administration, capturing, till operations, cash office, stock control, sales floor, and customer service
- Strong command of the English language
- Basic financial acumen, including GP, mark-up, and VAT
- Effective engagement with suppliers, management, representatives, and staff
- Strong analytical ability and time management skills
- Ability to manage, develop, and motivate team members
- Trustworthy and honest
