Job Description
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting for an Assistant Store Manager Pool to support operations across Gauteng stores. The successful candidate will assist the Store Manager with the full operation of the store, ensuring smooth daily processes, effective staff management, and achievement of store targets. This role also involves maintaining optimal inventory levels, anticipating customer demand, and preparing operational reports through data collection and analysis.
Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Retail or FMCG across key departments including Receiving, Administration, Cash Office, or Sales Floor Management
- At least 3 years’ experience in a supervisory role
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working with Unisolv, SAP, or QlikView systems
- Previous experience using Kronos
Advantageous
- Relevant qualification in Retail or FMCG
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily human resource administration including leave management, working hours, and staff scheduling
- Manage the performance management process and ensure personal development plans are implemented and monitored
- Ensure daily orders are completed accurately and on time while maintaining appropriate stock levels
- Manage and monitor stock flow onto the sales floor
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee biannual stock takes together with the Store Admin Manager
- Monitor and manage store shrinkage
- Handle customer compliments and complaints professionally
- Ensure customer requests and concerns are addressed promptly and effectively
- Ensure all merchandisers follow Dis-Chem merchandising standards
- Plan, implement, and maintain promotional displays and stock
- Ensure compliance with labelling, pricing, and store layout standards
- Support the Store Manager in achieving all store objectives and targets
Competencies
Essential Skills
- Retail administration and management experience including receiving, capturing, till operations, cash office, stock control, sales floor management, and customer service
- Strong command of the English language
- Basic financial understanding including GP, mark-up, and VAT
- Ability to interact effectively with suppliers, management, representatives, and staff
- Strong analytical ability and effective time management
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage, develop, and motivate team members
- Honest, reliable, and trustworthy
