Mr Price Vacancies – Assistant Store Manager – Port Elizabeth

Mr Price is looking for a driven and detail-oriented Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in overseeing the daily operations of a Mr Price Money Cellular store. This role focuses on delivering an excellent customer experience, achieving sales targets, and ensuring operational excellence across all aspects of the store.

Key Responsibilities

Stock Management:

  • Ensure accurate receiving and unpacking of stock to merchandise and replenish the sales floor.

  • Maintain stock levels through regular stock counts, stock takes, and implementation of stock loss prevention measures.

  • Oversee stockroom housekeeping standards.

  • Assist with authorising write-offs, breakages, returns, and handling of out-of-box failures and repairs.

Sales Growth & Profitability:

  • Analyse store performance and collaborate on action plans to boost sales and reduce expenses.

  • Monitor in-store product performance and provide feedback to the support team.

  • Identify opportunities to grow sales through in-store marketing, competitor analysis, and local engagement.

  • Drive credit, insurance, mobile, and cellular sales to achieve budget targets.

Risk Management:

  • Support the Store Manager in conducting regular compliance checks including audits, reports, safety standards, and security procedures to ensure full policy adherence.

Customer Experience:

  • Maintain high customer service standards by implementing business instructions, markdowns, promotional activity, and visual merchandising guidelines.

Leadership & Development:

  • Lead the team to meet key performance indicators and align operations with company values.

  • Identify development needs, deliver training, and support succession planning.

  • Assist with recruitment and performance management in line with company policy.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Grade 12 (NQF level 4) or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3 years’ retail experience (management experience is an advantage).

  • Strong understanding of sales and service management, budgeting, and retail operations.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internal systems.

  • Effective communication skills.

  • Knowledge of cellular, mobile, credit, insurance products, and customer service.
