Fidelity Vacancies – Assistant Technician – Commercial – Cape Town

Job Description:

The Assistant Technician – Commercial will be responsible for installing alarm systems, CCTV, access control, fire systems, and electrical wiring at commercial and industrial premises. The role includes the commissioning and integration of various security systems, ensuring optimal functionality and security at client locations.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Matric or equivalent.

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an Electronic Security Technician.

  • Experience in programming, wiring, installations, and fault-finding.

  • A valid code 08 driver’s license is essential.

  • PSIRA registration (Grade E, D, or C) is required or the candidate can apply through Fidelity-ADT.

Job Requirements:

  • Install and program various alarm systems including Ajax, Paradox, Texecom, Caddx, IDS, DSC, Rhino, and Risco.

  • Perform installations and maintenance of electric fences.

  • Install and manage smart CCTV systems (including line crossing, facial recognition, street surveillance, etc.).

  • Integrate electric fencing, CCTV, and intruder alarm systems.

  • Set up and maintain wireless, fibre, and copper networks.

  • Install basic electrical systems such as DB boards, inverters, UPSs, and generators.

  • Provide oversight and design support for larger projects.

  • Offer IT and network support.

  • Install and maintain access control systems, including bio-metrics, UHF, facial recognition, and access cards.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Program systems according to client specifications.

  • Plan cable runs in coordination with wiremen.

  • Obtain customer codes before attending calls, especially when on standby.

  • Complete handovers of completed work.

  • Fill out job cards after each installation.

  • Provide feedback to management, supervisors, and the call center upon job completion.

  • Assist in maintaining up-to-date stock and help with stock takes.

  • Ensure the company vehicle is kept clean.

  • Submit petrol slips for vehicle usage.
