Value Vacancies – Back Door Specialist – Durban

Value is seeking a dedicated Back Door Specialist to ensure seamless operations between retail store back doors, distribution centres, and internal Value operations. This role plays a critical part in reducing operational failures, enhancing turnaround times, and supporting efficient stock movement from receipt through to dispatch and returns.

The Back Door Specialist will be responsible for visiting allocated sites regularly, building strong working relationships with back door and operational teams, and managing issue resolution in collaboration with internal departments. The role also focuses on identifying areas for improvement and driving process optimisation through technology and integration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain professional relationships with retail and distribution centre back door teams

  • Conduct monthly visits to each assigned back door to monitor operations and ensure compliance

  • Understand the full back door process, including receiving, dispatch, and returns, to ensure smooth and accurate stock flow

  • Maintain and update back door and distribution centre requirements on a monthly basis

  • Act as a liaison between the back door and Value operational teams, managing and resolving issues effectively from both sides

  • Ensure all required actions are implemented and closed off within agreed timelines

  • Monitor and improve turnaround times at each back door by identifying and resolving inefficiencies

  • Oversee the smooth coordination of booking processes and escalate potential offloading delays

  • Support the implementation of digital tools and integrations to enhance efficiency at the back door

  • Proactively manage procedures that reduce stock returns and improve accuracy

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • A qualification in logistics or warehousing is advantageous

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in retail and distribution back door operations, including audit functions and problem-solving delayed offloading

  • Own transport is essential

Skills Required

  • Strong computer literacy

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Highly organised with attention to detail

  • Ability to identify discrepancies and ensure process compliance

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills

  • Proven problem-solving abilities

  • Effective negotiation skills

This role is suited to a hands-on individual with a keen understanding of retail and logistics processes, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to improve operational performance.
