Value is recruiting a Back Door Specialist to ensure efficient operations and continuous improvement across designated retail stores and distribution centres. The role is essential to maintaining seamless coordination between back door operations and Value’s internal teams, with a focus on reducing delays, resolving issues promptly, and enhancing service delivery.

The Back Door Specialist will be responsible for monitoring operational procedures at each location, identifying inefficiencies, and ensuring that processes from stock receipt to dispatch and returns are followed correctly. This role is critical in supporting smooth vehicle offloading, managing stakeholder relationships, and driving improvements through technology and integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with store and DC back door teams

  • Conduct monthly site visits to each allocated back door to assess and support operational compliance

  • Understand and oversee back door processes, including stock receiving, dispatch, and returns, ensuring all procedures are followed accurately

  • Update and maintain back door and DC operational requirements regularly

  • Act as a key point of contact between the back door and internal operations teams to manage and resolve issues effectively

  • Track and follow up on action items, ensuring timely resolution in line with operational deadlines

  • Monitor turnaround times and implement solutions to improve efficiency and reduce offloading delays

  • Manage booking procedures and escalate any potential issues that may impact delivery schedules

  • Promote the use of digital systems and integration tools to streamline operations and enhance back door performance

  • Implement and maintain procedures aimed at minimising returns and ensuring accuracy in stock handling

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • A qualification in logistics or warehousing is an advantage

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with retail or distribution back doors, including audits and solving delayed offloading issues

  • Own transport is essential

  • Strong computer literacy

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Ability to identify and correct discrepancies

  • Strong data analysis capabilities

  • Excellent problem-solving ability

  • Skilled in negotiation and conflict resolution
