This role is responsible for building compelling product assortments that align with the brand’s identity, meet customer expectations, and deliver on sales and profit targets. The ideal candidate will be experienced in retail buying and product development, with strong analytical and negotiation skills.
Key Responsibilities
Current Trade Analysis

Monitor and assess the performance of the current season to ensure alignment with strategic and financial objectives.

Post-Season Review

Conduct detailed analysis of past season strategies and trade outcomes.

Seasonal Strategy Development

Create seasonal strategies that support the annual brand objectives for Sheet Street.

Use trend analysis, market insights, and post-mortem reviews to inform decisions around sub-categories, pricing architecture, and assortment planning.

Collaborate closely with planners to align on targets and category performance metrics.
Product Assortment and Supplier Management

Develop an assortment that balances trend-forward design with historical sales data to meet customer preferences.

Source and assess samples, ensuring quality and fit for the target market before confirming with suppliers.

Maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure timely product delivery and alignment on pricing.
Seasonal Product Review

Prepare and present product samples for internal review and final approval.

Ensure alignment with KPIs including width and depth of assortment, profit margins, and sales targets.
Purchase Orders and Stock Flow

Manage the full booking process in line with production and delivery timelines.

Raise and manage purchase orders with accuracy, considering lead times and stock flow to stores.

Ensure product availability aligns with customer demand and promotional calendars.
Qualifications and Experience
Education

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Textiles, Interior Design, or a related field.
Experience
-
Minimum 3 years of experience in retail buying or related retail experience.

Background in manufacturing or sourcing homeware products is an advantage.
Skills and Knowledge

Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the retail buying cycle.

Knowledge of homeware product development, fabrications, and quality standards.

Excellent analytical, negotiation, and presentation skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
