Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Casual Cashier for their store in Durbanville. The role involves supporting customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a world-class shopping experience. You will be responsible for recording customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system, following company policies and standard operating procedures, with a strong emphasis on accuracy and fraud prevention.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric
-
A minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations

Computer literate – MS Office
-
Strong numerical skills
-
Strong command of the English language
-
Basic customer service experience
-
Willing and able to work retail hours
Job Description:

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures

Build and maintain professional relationships with customers

Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management

Adhere to the customer turnover hourly rate

Stay informed about current sales and promotions

Ensure the safety of colleagues and customers

Manage and uphold Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles

Take responsibility for cash flow

Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor

Handle exchanges and returns when authorized

Process all payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, and other accepted payment methods) accurately

Process all loyalty cards, including those from accelerator partners like Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks

Ensure cash is safely placed in the drop safe in line with Dis-Chem’s SOPs

Maintain the security and safety of your code and password

Ensure all outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for

Safeguard all money within the till

Handle daily takings confidentially and share details only with management

Be alert and report suspicious behavior to management

Address any queries regarding store merchandise

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
