Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Casual Cashier to join their Hemmingways store. The primary responsibility will be to support customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a world-class shopping experience. You will record customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering to company policies and standard operating procedures, with a focus on maintaining accuracy and minimizing the risk of fraud.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric
-
A minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations
-
Computer literate – MS Office
-
Sound numerical skills
-
Strong command of the English language
-
Basic customer service experience
-
Willing and able to work retail hours
Job Description:

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures

Establish a professional relationship with customers
-
Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management
-
Maintain adherence to customer turnover hourly rate
-
Stay informed about current sales and promotions
-
Ensure colleagues and customers are not exposed to any risks

Carry out and manage Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles

Be responsible for cash flow management
-
Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor

Process exchanges and returns when authorized
-
Transact all purchases and process payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, etc.)
-
Handle loyalty card processing, including those from accelerator partners such as Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks

Ensure cash is placed in the drop safe according to Dis-Chem’s SOPs

Ensure the safe use of your code and password, restricting it to only yourself and changing it regularly

Ensure all outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for
-
Safeguard all money inside the till

Handle daily takings confidentially, discussing only with management

Be alert and report suspicious behavior to management

Address queries regarding store merchandise

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
