Dischem Vacancies – Casual Cashier

Job Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced Casual Cashier to join their Kyalami Corner Store in Midrand. The successful candidate will provide exceptional customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a smooth and efficient shopping experience. Responsibilities include accurately processing customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system while adhering to company policies and minimizing fraud risks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver excellent customer service in line with Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with customers.
• Handle customer complaints and compliments, escalating them to the Frontline Supervisor or store management when necessary.
• Maintain awareness of ongoing sales and promotions.
• Ensure that customers and colleagues are not exposed to any risks.
• Adhere to cash flow procedures, including all line voids and price changes being signed off by the supervisor.
• Process all customer transactions, including payments (cash, cards, vouchers, etc.).
• Manage loyalty cards for Dis-Chem’s accelerator partners (Discovery Health, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, and others).
• Ensure all outgoing stock and items are scanned and paid for.
• Secure all money within the till and handle cash with confidentiality.
• Be vigilant for suspicious behavior and report it to management.
• Assist customers with queries regarding merchandise.

Minimum Requirements:

• Essential:
  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in cashier or till operations.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Strong numerical skills.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Basic customer service skills.
  • Willingness to work retail hours.
• Advantageous:
  • Knowledge of a third language.

• Strong knowledge of operating cash registers and managing cash drawers.
• Ability to process sales, refunds, and payments accurately.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Presentable with excellent communication skills.
