Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a Casual Frontshop Assistant for their Central Park, Century City store. The role focuses on maintaining merchandising standards while supporting customer service at the point of sale, in line with Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.
Essential:

Grade 12 – Matric or Senior Certificate

0 – 6 Months of retail work experience

Job Description:

Ensure that full ranges of products are available and neatly presented on the shelves at all times.

Check stock regularly to ensure it has not reached its sell-by date.

Restock merchandise as needed to maximize sales opportunities.
-
Address customer queries about out-of-stock items and follow up in a timely manner.
-
Ensure that delivered stock and/or stock pulled from the storeroom are stored and packed in the correct space.
-
Confirm that merchandise displays, labels, and pricing are accurate and report discrepancies to management.

Maintain an organized and tidy storeroom.
-
Stay updated on product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
-
Assist with restocking merchandise and supplies to ensure optimal sales.
-
Handle back shopping as required.
-
Ensure all merchandise is carefully handled to prevent losses.
-
Process all payments accurately, including cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and any other accepted methods.

Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returns when authorized by the Frontshop Leader.

Process loyalty cards, including those from accelerated partners.
-
Place cash securely in the drop safe following standard operating procedures.

Ensure that all line voids and price changes are approved and signed by a Frontshop Leader or Retail Store Assistant.

Maintain accurate cash flow at all times.
-
Perform regular stock rotation and adhere to Dis-Chem’s stock control procedures.

Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired products to management.

Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking.
-
Report any damaged or expired stock immediately.
-
Help with the loading and unloading of stock as needed.
-
Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and place them in the designated area.
-
Build and maintain professional relationships with customers, providing friendly and helpful assistance.

Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
-
Meet the customer turnover per hour rate as per company standards.

Assist in training new and current team members.

Ensure all outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.

Keep daily takings (cash, cheques, vouchers, card slips, line voids, and incomplete dockets) securely in the till drawer until placed in the drop safe.

Report any suspicious behavior from staff or customers to management.

Maintain housekeeping standards in line with Dis-Chem policies.

Follow Dis-Chem’s policies and standard operating procedures, as well as health and safety rules and regulations.

Adhere to the company’s uniform and personal appearance policy.
