Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Malvern is seeking a Casual Frontshop Assistant to uphold merchandising standards and provide excellent customer service at the point of sale, in alignment with Dis-Chem policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

Grade 12 – Matric or Senior Certificate

0 – 6 months of retail work experience
Advantageous:

1 year of work experience in retail

Certification in Retail Business Management
Job Description:
-
Ensure that product ranges are fully stocked and neatly presented on the shelves at all times.
-
Monitor stock levels to ensure products have not passed their sell-by date.
-
Restock merchandise when needed to ensure maximum sales opportunities.
-
Follow up on customer queries related to out-of-stock items, in line with customer service protocols, and resolve these promptly.
-
Store delivered stock or items pulled from the storeroom in the correct locations.
-
Ensure that all merchandise displays, labels, and pricing are accurate and report any discrepancies to management.

Keep the storeroom organized, neat, and tidy.
-
Stay updated with new product knowledge to assist customers effectively.

Assist with back shopping when required.
-
Handle merchandise carefully to prevent losses.
-
Process all purchases and payments, including cash, cards, vouchers, and coupons.
-
Process merchandise exchanges and returns when authorized by the Frontshop Leader.

Process all loyalty cards, including those of accelerated partners.
-
Ensure cash is placed in the drop safe according to standard operating procedures.

Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed by the Frontshop Leader or Retail Store Assistant.

Maintain accurate cash flow at all times.

Regularly rotate stock and follow Dis-Chem stock control procedures.
-
Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.

Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking.
-
Identify and report damaged or expired stock immediately to management.
-
Assist with loading and off-loading stock when needed.
-
Ensure unpacked boxes are flattened and taken to the designated area.
-
Build professional relationships with customers by providing friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance.

Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
-
Adhere to the customer turnover per hour rate as per company benchmarks.

Assist with the training of new and current team members.

Ensure that outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.

Safeguard daily takings (cash, cheques, vouchers, card slips, line voids, and incomplete dockets) in the till drawer until placed in the drop safe.

Report suspicious behavior from staff or customers to management.

Maintain housekeeping standards according to Dis-Chem policies.

Adhere to Dis-Chem’s Policies and Standard Operating Procedures, Health and Safety rules and regulations, and the company’s uniform and personal appearance policy.

Proficiency in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
