Dis-Chem Pharmacies is actively building a Casual Merchandiser Talent Pool for future job opportunities across their various stores. The aim of this talent pool is to maintain a pre-screened group of individuals with the right skills, qualifications, and attributes to fill positions as they become available within Dis-Chem Pharmacies.
Purpose of the Role: As part of the Casual Merchandiser Talent Pool, you will be responsible for ensuring that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are properly implemented and maintained. You will also play a key role in providing excellent customer service.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
-
Grade 12 / Matric
-
Up to 6 months’ retail experience
-
Computer literate – MS Office
-
Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous:

At least 1 year retail experience
Job Description:
-
Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales
-
Ensure delivered stock and stock pulled from the storeroom are stored and packed in the correct location promptly
-
Regularly check stock on shelves to ensure it has not reached its sell-by date
-
Ensure the full range of products is available on shelves at all times
-
Facilitate stock rotation on a regular FIFO (First In, First Out) basis
-
Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management
-
Assist with counting stock files and stocktaking
-
Adhere to Dis-Chem’s operating standards, store layout, and planograms
-
Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and ensure they are taken to the designated area
-
Ensure front shop shelves and products are neatly presented and clearly visible with correct labels and pricing
-
Report any price discrepancies to management
-
Stay updated on new products and current stock
-
Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays
-
Ensure daily upkeep of store and merchandise displays; be responsible for designated stock both in the storeroom and on the shop floor

Assist with loading and offloading stock

Mark items without barcodes clearly
-
Assist with back shopping tasks
-
Support the training of new staff members
-
Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to customers
-
Follow up on out-of-stock queries from customers using the customer service out-of-stock list
-
Ensure all customer stock queries are handled and resolved
-
Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times
-
Handle merchandise carefully to minimize losses

Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, procedures, SOPs, and health and safety regulations
Competencies:

Strong command of the English language

Good time management skills
Advantageous:

Bilingual

Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry

Product and category knowledge

Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking

Report suspicious or inappropriate behavior by staff or customers
