Dischem Vacancies – Casual Sales Assistant
Dis-Chem Baby City is seeking a Casual Sales Assistant for their Kenilworth Centre store. The main purpose of this role is to provide exceptional customer service and overall assistance to customers. Responsibilities will include maintaining stock levels, processing payments at the point of sale, and ensuring high merchandising standards are met.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
-
Grade 12 / Matric
-
Up to 6 months’ retail experience
-
At least 1 year of work experience within retail
Advantageous:
-
Certification in Retail Business Management
Role and Responsibilities:
-
Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management
-
Assist with counting stock files and general stocktaking
-
Assist with loading and off-loading of stock when required
-
Identify and report damaged and expired stock immediately to management
-
Ensure boxes are flattened after unpacking stock and taken to the designated area
-
Ensure that full ranges of products are always on the shelves and presented neatly
-
Maintain stock on shelves to ensure products have not reached their sell-by date
-
Restock merchandise to ensure maximum sales

Ensure that merchandise displays, labels, and pricing are always correct and report discrepancies to management
-
Stay updated on new product knowledge to assist customers effectively
-
Handle merchandise carefully to prevent losses
-
Build stable displays in time for promotions
-
Implement monthly promotions effectively to maximize sales
-
Place relevant posters and signage for promotions promptly
-
Ensure promotional stock is taken down immediately after promotions end
-
Ensure accurate cash flow and adhere to cash handling procedures
-
Process all purchases, including cash, cards, vouchers, and other acceptable payment methods

Ensure outgoing stock, items, and scripts are scanned and paid for
-
Process loyalty cards, including those from accelerated partners
-
Establish professional relationships with customers and provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance

Report customer compliments and complaints to management

Attend to customer stock queries and ensure they are resolved
