Dischem Vacancies – Clinic Nurse Practitioner

Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified Clinic Nurse Practitioner to join their team in Graafwater, Sandveld. The primary objective of this position is to manage and operate a successful Primary Health Care Clinic within a pharmacy, ensuring all services are provided in line with industry regulations and the scope of practice of a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements:

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing

  • Degree/Diploma in Midwifery

  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)

  • Nursing practitioner must hold BHF registration

  • 2-3 years of experience practicing as a Primary Health Care Clinic Nurse

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Advantageous:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Nurse

  • Familiarity with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform Clinic Nurse duties in accordance with industry regulations and best practices.

  • Manage the clinic’s “feet-per-hour” rate and set objectives to enhance patient flow and satisfaction.

  • Ensure all clinic services are readily available to patients.

  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records of patient information and ensure follow-up communication is carried out.

  • Ensure the clinic operates according to the stated operational hours.

  • Process claims accurately and promptly in compliance with industry standards.

  • Maintain clinic stock and equipment, ensuring all are in working condition.

  • Ensure adequate stock levels in the clinic based on business needs.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with patients, the Store and Dispensary Manager, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, community members, and other healthcare professionals.

Competencies:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of community health nursing, primary health care, occupational health nursing, family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling, breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care.

  • Quarterly CPD training and in-service training with Dis-Chem.

  • Strong command of English (written and oral).

  • Understanding of the financial implications of meeting or failing to meet set monthly targets.

  • Strong analytical skills related to clinic statistics and commission.

  • Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial flair, trustworthiness, and honesty.

  • Ability to manage both a team and oneself, being self-directed and self-motivated.

  • Excellent time management skills.

Advantageous:

  • Bilingual.

  • Knowledge and understanding of business objectives.

  • Certification in Baby Immunisation (DoH/Sanofi Pasteur), Family Planning (DoH), Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management courses.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willing and able to work retail hours.

  • Physically fit to manage the responsibilities of a Primary Health Care Clinic.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.

  • South African citizen.
