Dischem Vacancies – Clinic Practitioner – Dainfern

Dis-Chem is seeking a qualified Clinic Practitioner to join their team in Dainfern. The primary objective of this position is to manage and operate a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within a pharmacy, adhering to the scope of practice for a registered nursing practitioner.

Minimum Requirements:

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing

  • Degree/Diploma in Midwifery

  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)

  • BHF registration required for nursing practitioners

  • 2-3 years of experience in practicing as a Primary Health Care Clinic Practitioner

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Advantageous:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Practitioner

  • Familiarity with Patient Record Systems, CKS, and Allegra

Job Description:

  • Perform Clinic Practitioner duties in line with industry regulations and best practices.

  • Manage clinic objectives and monitor the average “feet-per-hour” rate to improve patient outcomes.

  • Ensure the availability of all clinic services as per operational hours.

  • Keep accurate patient records and ensure effective follow-up communication.

  • Ensure the clinic operates according to the stated hours and meets all operational standards.

  • Process claims accurately and promptly according to industry guidelines.

  • Maintain all stock and equipment in the clinic to industry standards and ensure stock levels meet business requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including patients, the Store and Dispensary Manager, colleagues, medical aids, suppliers, and other healthcare professionals.

Competencies:

Essential:

  • Knowledge in community health nursing, primary health care, and occupational health nursing, including family planning, cytology, IUD, pharmacology, EPI/cold chain management, STDs, emergency care, HIV/AIDS counseling (pre- and post-), breastfeeding, pathology, and wound care.

  • Commitment to ongoing CPD and in-service training with Dis-Chem.

  • Strong proficiency in English (written and oral).

  • Understanding of the financial impact of meeting or failing to meet set targets.

  • Strong analytical skills with regard to clinic statistics and performance.

  • Emotional intelligence, entrepreneurial mindset, and a trustworthy, honest approach.

  • Ability to manage and motivate both a team and self, with strong self-direction and motivation.

  • Excellent time management skills.

Advantageous:

  • Bilingual.

  • Knowledge and understanding of business objectives and operations.

  • Certifications in Baby Immunisation (DoH/Sanofi Pasteur), Family Planning (DoH), Primary Health Care, Breastfeeding, and Disease Management.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willingness to work retail hours.

  • Physically fit and healthy to manage a Primary Health Care Clinic.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transport.
