Dischem Vacancies – Clinic Receptionist

Dis-Chem Pharmacies in Toti Centre-Amanzimtoti is offering an opportunity for a Clinic Receptionist to join their team. The primary purpose of this role is to assist patients both on the phone and in person, coordinate appointments, and ensure the smooth operation of the clinic, supporting the delivery of quality patient care.

Minimum Requirements:

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric

Job Description:

  • Register patients following established standards.

  • Assist patients in completing necessary medical forms, including medical insurance documentation.

  • Monitor and maintain clinical equipment, stationery, and medication supplies.

  • Inform patients of clinic procedures and manage their records.

  • Open new patient files in accordance with standard procedures.

  • Ensure the accuracy of patient information.

  • Process medical aid payments.

  • Ensure that patients are moved through their appointments as scheduled.

  • Obtain medical reports when required.

  • Maintain a clean and confidential reception area.

  • Answer all incoming calls promptly, adhering to Dis-Chem standards.

  • Use proper telephone etiquette when communicating with patients.

  • Provide callers with relevant and accurate information regarding their requests, questions, or concerns.

  • Take down caller details accurately on calls, especially when the call is transferred for the third time, and email relevant staff.

  • Repeat the message to the caller to confirm all details.

  • Ask the right questions to ensure the correct message is transferred.

  • Ensure messages or calls are directed to the appropriate person at all times.

  • Assist walk-in guests in reaching staff for meetings or deliveries.

  • Provide customers with area codes, work phone numbers, and other relevant details as requested.

  • Ensure that customers, guests, and callers receive prompt and relevant feedback regarding their queries.

  • Assist patients in distress by responding to emergencies.

  • Advise and assist patients with medical aid authorization procedures.

  • Follow up with patients regarding any requested feedback.

Competencies:

Essential:

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Deadline-driven.

  • Ability to follow and provide both oral and written instructions.

Advantageous:

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • South African citizen.

  • Dedicated work station (sit at desk most of the day).

  • Clear criminal and credit record (MIE).
