Job Description

As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely calculation and loading of the fully absorbed cost for all SKUs. You will handle monthly reporting and validation, covering areas such as product mix, volume, conversion cost, productivity, efficiency, and manufacturing expenses. Your role will include summarizing key findings and drawing management’s attention to potential actions. Additionally, you will be involved in cost reviews, stock valuation, and ensuring compliance with internal control requirements.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with Procurement to ensure accurate costs are reflected in the system.

  • Accurately and timely calculating the fully absorbed cost for all SKUs, ensuring all aspects of the manufacturing process are accurately reflected in the ERP system.

  • Loading new bills of material for the Manufacturing units, based on the Costing Pack, and updating changes to existing bills of material.

  • Monthly reporting and validation of yield, purchase price, and manufacturing variances.

  • Conducting cost reviews and stock valuations.

  • Monitoring and controlling manufacturing expenses.

  • Ensuring compliance with internal control requirements.

  • Calculating savings realized for cost-saving projects based on actual production volumes.

  • Developing reports and reviewing them with the Finance Manager Costing before sharing with unit and supply management.

  • Identifying and supporting cost improvement opportunities, actively contributing to improvement projects and initiatives.

  • Partnering with Engineering to manage costs and review capital proposals.

  • Overseeing the timeliness and accuracy of period-end close reporting and dynamic forecasts for the factory.

  • Participating in business planning and coordinating the factory budget with factory management.

  • Developing new product costing in alignment with costing standards.

  • Ensuring full transparency of costs and the financial impact of major or strategic decisions related to the factory.

Key Performance Indicators

  • No purchase price variances due to incorrect standards.

  • Actual vs. standard cost variances are explained, with the correct costing pack available when required.

  • High customer satisfaction.

  • Strong factory controls.

  • ROI and Capex evaluations.

Qualifications

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong conceptual and analytical thinking, with a creative approach to problem-solving.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various non-financial functions.

  • Strong initiative, capable of handling complexity, working under pressure, and managing short lead-time deliveries.

  • Proficiency in computer systems and Oracle software.

  • Experience in shop floor process control, with the ability to identify issues by reviewing daily operational figures.

  • Expertise in budgeting procedures, financial reporting and analysis, cost analysis, standard costing, and capital application processing.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an FMCG manufacturing facility.

  • Relevant finance qualifications.

  • Experience in similar business partner roles.
