Mr Price is looking for a Data Scientist who blends strong programming expertise, solid business acumen, and a data-driven mindset. This role is central to transforming large volumes of data into meaningful insights that drive efficiency and support business growth across the group.

You will be part of a collaborative, insights-driven team that works with advanced cloud data warehouse technologies, data visualisation, and data science to influence decision-making across the business.

Requirements

• A degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering.

• 0–5 years of experience in data science, software development, or quantitative analysis.

Preferred (but not mandatory) skills

• Proficiency in Python or R using libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, or tidyverse.

• Solid understanding of SQL, relational databases, and data modelling.

• Experience with data visualisation tools like Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.

• Applied knowledge of machine learning or statistical methods such as regression, clustering, neural networks, decision trees, and time series analysis.

• Exposure to optimisation techniques such as linear programming or genetic algorithms.

• Familiarity with big data tools like Apache Spark.

• Good software engineering practices including version control (Git), reproducibility, and deployment.

• Interest or experience in leveraging large language models (LLMs) and generative AI for advanced problem solving.

Work Environment

The Data Science team is part of Mr Price Advance within the Technology division, working alongside teams in data warehousing, business intelligence, robotic process automation, and special projects. You will typically lead a key portion of a project, report progress regularly to the Head of Data Science, and collaborate closely with other data scientists.

Work is project-based (around 80%), with the remainder focused on supporting existing solutions. The team operates on a hybrid model, with most team members working from home on Mondays and Fridays.
