Job Description
Safair Operations, operating as FlySafair, is currently looking for an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our dynamic HR & Corporate Services team at Head Office. The successful candidate will report directly to the Manager: Employee Relations (ER) and play a key role in driving fair and legally compliant employee relations practices across the business.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage employee grievances, counselling, and conflict resolution processes efficiently and effectively.

Proactively address conflict and ensure consistent application of grievance and disciplinary procedures.

Advise managers on appropriate disciplinary action in compliance with company policy and labour law.

Conduct thorough investigations into employee concerns and recommend sound courses of action.

Interpret and help implement internal policies regarding conduct, discipline, and grievance management.

Support HR and departmental managers in handling disciplinary actions, investigations, and hearings.

Represent the company at the CCMA and similar dispute resolution forums.

Prepare and support management in CCMA proceedings, including case strategy and documentation.

Monitor changes in labour law and ensure company policies remain legally compliant.

Deliver internal training on employee relations, policies, legislation, and disciplinary best practices.

Build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments and external legal partners.

Review and update company policies to reflect legal developments and best practices.

Ensure consistent application of labour laws and internal regulations across all departments.

Promote awareness of policies, legislation, and collective agreements throughout the organisation.

Conduct legal research and provide insights into recent labour law changes and court decisions.
Minimum Requirements:
-
Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
-
Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or a related field (Essential)

Postgraduate qualification in Labour Relations or Labour Law (Advantageous)

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Employee Relations, Industrial Relations, or Labour Law advisory roles

Proven experience handling disciplinary cases and representing at CCMA

Willingness to travel as required
