About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Systems Manager (Lead) to oversee multiple financial product teams within Pepkor NextTech. This strategic role manages both system owners and product owners, ensuring the successful delivery, stability, and continuous improvement of key financial systems.
The portfolio includes legacy financial capabilities that integrate with the Group’s general ledger, as well as the Group reconciliation platform used across several retail divisions.
The ideal candidate brings strong financial expertise, deep systems development experience, and excellent leadership capabilities. You will drive the roadmap, ensure high-quality system delivery, and maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders. A key part of the role includes ensuring robust data architecture and alignment with the Group’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership across multiple financial system and product teams.

Develop and own the long-term roadmap for the financial systems portfolio in alignment with NexTech and Group objectives.

Take accountability for team outputs, ensuring high-quality, business-aligned development and delivery.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across retail divisions.

Ensure the design and implementation of solid data architecture solutions.

Collaborate closely with engineering, finance, and business teams to resolve system issues and ensure continuity.

Mentor and support team members, fostering a culture of growth, learning, and adaptability.

Oversee quality assurance for all financial system functionality and user experiences.

Manage budgeting for the portfolio, including resource planning, software licensing, and vendor contracts.

Ensure compliance with financial regulations, POPIA, and internal audit requirements.
Qualifications & Competencies

Relevant tertiary qualification in Finance or Accounting (CA or similar advantageous).

10+ years’ experience in a similar role, focusing on both finance and systems development management.

Proven success in leading teams and managing complex financial systems.

Deep understanding of financial processes, accounting principles, and system implications.

Strong strategic problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate financial needs into system solutions.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working across technical and business environments.

Experience within a SAP environment is beneficial.
