Job Description:

Positions are available for Firefighters within Fidelity Group, focused on responding to and managing fire-related incidents.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, responding to fire incidents, firefighting, emergency rescue services, providing basic medical care, fire prevention, and conducting training activities. The role also involves operating and maintaining firefighting equipment and apparatus to protect lives and property for Fidelity Group clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to fires, rescues, and other emergency or non-emergency humanitarian incidents.

  • Address incidents involving hazardous substances.

  • Perform casualty extrication and emergency operations as directed.

  • Provide resuscitation and treatment to injured individuals in accordance with procedures.

  • Operate firefighting equipment to manage and extinguish fires.

  • Undertake fire protection duties in situations that threaten lives or property, using appropriate equipment under supervisor guidance.

  • Prepare for emergency incidents and protection duties as directed.

  • Participate in training drills, simulation exercises, and physical fitness training.

  • Train employees on the theory and practice required to fight fires effectively.

  • Advise on preventative and corrective actions.

  • Implement procedures, strategies, and equipment to ensure the protection of people and property.

  • Perform basic maintenance on firefighting equipment to ensure readiness.

  • Ensure vehicles and equipment are regularly cleaned, tested, and maintained.

  • Complete computerized occurrence logs to maintain proper records.

  • Conduct health and safety inspections to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Drive and operate a variety of heavy and specialized vehicles during emergency incidents.

  • Use machinery to gain access to buildings or extricate victims and equipment during emergencies.

  • Assist with Fire and Safety training, fire safety inspections, and safety education.

  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, conducting safety inspections and ensuring proper protective clothing use.

  • Ensure fire apparatus and emergency equipment are safely and effectively operated.

  • Comply with equipment maintenance schedules and perform repairs to ensure operational readiness.

  • Complete administrative routines as specified by the Fire Chief.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies:

  • Minimum Grade 12 qualification.

  • IFSAC Accreditation.

  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2 certification.

  • Firefighter II Certification.

  • At least 2-3 years of firefighting training and related experience.

  • Valid code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.

  • Advanced driving experience is advantageous.

  • Medically and physically fit.

  • Knowledge of fire prevention procedures.

  • Understanding of firefighting systems and the chemistry of fire.

  • Clear criminal record.

  • Ability to react promptly to emergency situations.

  • Strong administration, communication, and customer liaison skills.

  • Hazmat experience and knowledge.

  • EMT certification and First Aid levels 1-3.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Solid understanding of Hazmat guidelines.

  • Knowledge of the security industry and adherence to its code of conduct.

  • Understanding of the key elements related to firefighter instructor applications in an operational role.
