Job Description

Positions are available for Firefighters within the Fidelity Group. Firefighters will be required to respond to and handle various fire-related incidents as well as perform emergency rescue services. Their duties will also include providing basic medical care, fire prevention activities, training, and the operation and maintenance of firefighting equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to fire incidents, rescues, and other emergency or non-emergency humanitarian situations

  • Handle incidents involving hazardous substances

  • Extricate and/or release casualties during emergencies, following the instructions of senior personnel

  • Resuscitate and treat injured individuals as directed

  • Operate firefighting equipment and apparatus to manage and extinguish fires

  • Conduct fire protection duties in high-risk situations to safeguard lives and property

  • Prepare for emergency incidents and ensure proper protection measures under guidance and supervision

  • Participate in training drills, physical fitness training, and simulation exercises as directed

  • Train relevant employees on firefighting theory and practice

  • Advise on fire prevention and corrective actions

  • Implement procedures and use appropriate equipment to support security efforts for the protection of data, people, institutions, and property

  • Perform basic maintenance on firefighting equipment to ensure operational readiness

  • Clean, test, and maintain firefighting vehicles and equipment

  • Keep computerized records of daily occurrences and maintain accurate logs

  • Conduct health and safety inspections to maintain a safe work environment

  • Complete administrative tasks as specified in departmental policies

  • Drive and operate specialized heavy vehicles and equipment during emergency incidents

  • Use machinery to gain access to buildings and extricate victims, equipment, and personnel

  • Ensure fire apparatus and emergency equipment are operated effectively to save lives and property

  • Assist in fire safety training, fire safety inspections, and life safety education

  • Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act by conducting necessary safety inspections

  • Ensure subordinates maintain and use prescribed protective clothing and adhere to policies promoting safety

  • Maintain equipment according to prescribed maintenance schedules, ensuring operational readiness

  • Complete shift-related administrative routines to maintain records and ensure efficiency

  • Supervise and manage personnel-related functions

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies Required

  • Minimum of Grade 12 qualification

  • IFSAC Accreditation

  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter 2 certification

  • Firefighter II Certification

  • At least 2-3 years of firefighting experience

  • Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP

  • Advanced driving experience is an advantage

  • Medically and physically fit

  • Strong knowledge of fire prevention and firefighting systems

  • Understanding of fire classes and fire chemistry

  • Clear criminal record

  • Ability to respond efficiently to emergency situations

  • Strong administrative, communication, and customer liaison skills

  • Experience in hazardous materials (Hazmat) handling is essential

  • EMT certification

  • First Aid levels 1 to 3

Core Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Sound understanding of Hazmat guidelines

  • Knowledge of the security industry and adherence to the code of conduct

  • Understanding of firefighting instructor applications within an operational role
