Purpose of the Role
The Forklift Technician is responsible for stripping, cleaning, assessing, and assembling vehicle components, ensuring all work aligns with manufacturer specifications and company standards. The role also includes diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities

Inspect forklifts and related equipment for general defects before starting repairs

Prepare technical reports outlining the scope of required repairs

Identify and list spare parts needed for repairs

Dismantle vehicle components and assess parts for wear or damage

Clean and prepare parts for reassembly using new or reused components

Reassemble components accurately and efficiently

Diagnose component failures, consult with team leaders and workshop foreman, and record findings on job cards

Accurately log all repair tasks, time spent, and parts used on job cards

Service and repair forklifts in accordance with original equipment manufacturer (OE) specifications and schedules

Be available for after-hours standby and emergency breakdown duties

Maintain high levels of productivity and efficiency

Supervise, support, and mentor repair shop assistants and semi-skilled team members

Report unsafe conditions or equipment to the team leader or workshop foreman

Comply with all company Standard Operating Procedures

Assist in broader operational tasks as needed

Uphold a professional standard of conduct at all times

Follow company dress code and grooming standards

Maintain daily housekeeping standards in the workshop

Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations and procedures
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)

Red Seal Qualification
-
2 or more years of relevant experience is an advantage
