Dis-Chem Eikestad Mall, Stellenbosch is looking for a Frontshop Assistant to join their team. This role involves upholding merchandising standards and supporting customer service at the point of sale in line with Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:
Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate
0 – 6 months of retail work experience
Advantageous:
1 year of retail work experience
Certification in Retail Business Management
Job Description:
Ensure that a full range of products is on the shelves at all times and presented neatly.
Monitor stock on shelves to ensure it has not passed its sell-by date.
Restock merchandise when necessary to maximize sales.
Follow up on all out-of-stock customer queries, in accordance with the customer service out-of-stock list, and resolve them promptly.
Store and pack delivered stock or stock pulled from the storeroom in the correct spaces.
Maintain correct merchandise displays, labels, and pricing, and report any price discrepancies to management.
Keep the storeroom organized, neat, and tidy.
Stay informed about new product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
Assist with restocking merchandise and supplies as needed to ensure maximum sales.
Assist with back shopping when required.
Handle merchandise carefully to avoid any losses.
Process all transactions, verifying payments (cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, etc.) accurately.
Exchange merchandise and accept returns when authorized by the Frontshop Leader.
Process loyalty cards, including those from accelerated partners.
Ensure cash is placed in the drop safe according to standard operating procedures.
Ensure that all price changes and line voids are approved and signed by a Frontshop Leader and/or Retail Store Assistant.
Ensure accurate cash flow management.
Facilitate regular stock rotation and adhere to Dis-Chem’s stock control procedures.
Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking.
Immediately report any damaged or expired stock to management.
Assist with loading and off-loading stock when needed.
Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and take them to the designated area.
Establish professional relationships with customers and provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice.
Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
Meet the customer turnover per hour rate as per company benchmark.
Assist with training new and current team members.
Ensure outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for.
Keep daily takings (cash, cheques, vouchers, card slips, line voids, and incomplete dockets) in the till drawer until placed in the drop safe.
Report any suspicious behavior by staff or customers to management.
Maintain housekeeping in accordance with Dis-Chem standards.
Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Health and Safety regulations.
Follow the Dis-Chem uniform and personal appearance policy.
Competencies:
Essential:
Knowledge of retail operations and administration
Ability to find solutions to potential issues and know when to escalate the problem
Proficient in basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
