Dis-Chem Eikestad Mall in Stellenbosch is looking for a Frontshop Assistant to uphold merchandising standards while providing excellent customer service at the point of sale, in accordance with Dis-Chem policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate

0 – 6 months of retail work experience
Advantageous:
-
1 year of retail work experience
-
Certification in Retail Business Management
Job Description:
-
Ensure full product ranges are always available on the shelves and presented neatly.
-
Maintain stock on shelves, checking for expired products.
-
Restock merchandise as needed to ensure maximum sales.
-
Follow up on customer out-of-stock queries promptly, following the customer service out-of-stock list.

Ensure that delivered stock or stock pulled from the storeroom is stored and packed in the correct space.
-
Ensure that merchandise displays, labels, and pricing are accurate and report any discrepancies to management.

Keep the storeroom organized, neat, and tidy.
-
Stay up to date with new product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
-
Assist with restocking merchandise and supplies as needed.
-
Help with back shopping when required.
-
Handle merchandise carefully to prevent losses.
-
Process all payments accurately, including cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other acceptable forms of payment.
-
Exchange merchandise and accept returned goods when authorized by the Frontshop Leader.
-
Process all loyalty cards, including those of accelerated partners.
-
Ensure cash is placed in the drop safe according to standard operating procedures.
-
Ensure that all line voids and price changes are approved and signed by a Frontshop Leader or Retail Store Assistant.

Ensure accurate cash flow at all times.
-
Facilitate regular stock rotation and adhere to Dis-Chem’s stock control procedures.
-
Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
-
Assist with stock counting and general stocktaking.
-
Report damaged and expired stock immediately to management.
-
Assist with loading and off-loading stock when necessary.
-
Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and dispose of them in the designated area.
-
Build professional relationships with customers, providing friendly, helpful, and courteous service.

Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
-
Meet the customer turnover per hour rate as per company benchmarks.

Assist with the training of new and current team members.
-
Ensure all outgoing stock, items, or scripts are scanned and paid for.

Keep daily takings (cash, cheques, vouchers, card slips, line voids, and incomplete dockets) inside the till drawer until placed in the drop safe.

Report suspicious behavior from both staff and customers to management.

Maintain housekeeping standards in line with Dis-Chem’s policies.
-
Adhere to Dis-Chem’s policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and Health and Safety regulations.

Follow Dis-Chem’s uniform and personal appearance policy.
Competencies:
Essential:

Knowledge of retail operations and administration

Ability to find solutions to potential issues and escalate problems when necessary

Strong arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)

Clear and effective communication with customers

Ability to follow procedures and timelines with minimal oversight
Advantageous:
