Dischem Vacancies – Frontshop Assistant
Dis-Chem Springfield Pharmacy is seeking a Frontshop Assistant to maintain merchandising standards and provide excellent customer service at the point of sale in alignment with Dis-Chem’s policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements:
Essential:

Grade 12 / Matric or Senior Certificate

0 – 6 months of retail work experience
Advantageous:

1 year of work experience in retail

Certification in Retail Business Management
Job Description:
-
Ensure full ranges of products are stocked on the shelves and presented neatly at all times.
-
Maintain stock levels and ensure products have not reached their sell-by date.
-
Restock merchandise as needed to maximize sales.
-
Follow up on out-of-stock queries from customers in a timely manner.
-
Store delivered stock or stock pulled from the storeroom in the correct location.
-
Ensure that merchandise displays, labels, and pricing are always accurate and report any discrepancies to management.
-
Keep the storeroom organized and tidy.
-
Stay up to date with new product knowledge to assist customers effectively.
-
Assist with restocking and back shopping when required to ensure maximum sales.
-
Handle merchandise carefully to prevent losses.
-
Process all purchases, including cash, cards, vouchers, coupons, and other acceptable payment methods.
-
Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returned goods when authorized by the Frontshop Leader.

Process all loyalty cards, including those of accelerated partners.
-
Place cash in the drop safe according to standard operating procedures.
-
Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed by a Frontshop Leader or Retail Store Assistant.

Maintain accurate cash flow at all times.
-
Facilitate stock rotation regularly and adhere to Dis-Chem’s stock control procedures.
-
Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.
-
Assist with counting stock files and general stocktaking.
-
Report damaged and expired stock to management immediately.
-
Help with loading and off-loading stock when necessary.
-
Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and dispose of them in the designated area.
-
Establish a professional relationship with customers and provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance.

Report customer compliments and complaints to management.
-
Adhere to the customer turnover per hour rate as per company benchmarks.

Assist with the training of new and current team members.
-
Ensure that outgoing stock, items, or scripts are scanned and paid for.
-
Keep daily takings (cash, cheques, vouchers, card slips, line voids, and incomplete dockets) inside the till drawer until placed in the drop safe.

Report suspicious behavior from both staff and customers to management.

Maintain housekeeping in line with Dis-Chem standards.
-
Adhere to Dis-Chem’s policies, procedures, and health and safety rules.

Comply with the Dis-Chem uniform and personal appearance policy.
Competencies:
