Cashbuild Vacancies – General Assistant – Akasia

Cashbuild is looking for a proactive and customer-focused General Assistant to support daily store operations. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, maintain merchandising standards, ensure cleanliness and safety, and contribute to minimizing stock loss within their designated area.

Job Purpose
Provide comprehensive customer assistance, ensure merchandise is displayed according to store layout, maintain accurate shelf pricing, and uphold housekeeping and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum Grade 10 or NQF Level 3 with one year of relevant experience, or Grade 12 without work experience

  • Ability to communicate in English and the dominant local language

  • Valid South African ID or work permit

  • Basic numerical skills and ability to perform simple calculations

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

  • Assist and advise customers on products and resolve related queries

  • Support with handling and resolving customer complaints effectively

Merchandising

  • Ensure bulk stock is displayed safely according to store layout plans

  • Maintain full merchandising in your designated area following planograms

Housekeeping

  • Keep aisles and shelves clear of obstacles for customer safety

  • Ensure products are merchandised promptly after receipt

  • Verify shelf price labels are accurate and up to date

  • Complete required checklists during shifts, including canteen and restroom schedules

Safety Compliance

  • Follow Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements

  • Use safety gear and ensure the safety of customers and colleagues in your area

  • Merchandise stock safely to prevent accidents

  • Report any hazards or discrepancies to the Store Manager

Stock Loss Control

  • Identify and report damaged stock within your area to the Store Manager
