Job Description
The Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing and supporting finance functions at both operational and statutory levels. The role’s primary focus is to ensure the integrity of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and overall visibility of business financial performance.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies Required

  • Honours Degree in Accounting (CA(SA))

  • 5-8 years of experience in a similar environment

  • 10 years of experience in financial management

  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially advanced Excel

  • Experience with SAP

  • Strong knowledge of IFRS

  • Expertise in planning and budgeting

  • Exceptional financial acumen and attention to detail

  • In-depth understanding of BCEA and Labour legislation

  • Five years of experience with HR database administration, including payroll systems and integration

  • Project management experience

  • Own vehicle and valid driver’s license

  • Strong administrative, interpersonal communication, and customer liaison skills

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Support the Group Financial Director in developing organizational budget structures and financial strategies aimed at driving stakeholder value and ensuring future success

  • Influence and drive the achievement of the agreed Group financial targets

  • Participate in formulating the organizational strategy, defining strategic options amidst conflicting priorities

  • Set priorities and plan for the future to shape key business-critical disciplines within the organization

  • Provide a framework for long-term initiatives in alignment with strategic guidelines

  • Develop and implement a financial plan that ensures the organizational strategy is adequately resourced

  • Responsible for developing and executing the Group’s tax strategy

  • Implement and manage the Group’s BBBEE ownership strategy

  • Manage long-term and short-term investment strategies, as well as group fixed assets planning, maintenance, and disposal

  • Align the procurement strategy to support and enable business goals, including target setting and strategic supplier management

  • Consolidate, analyze, and report on financial performance, and implement corrective actions for financial strategies and targets

  • Ensure adequate balance sheet structuring to support the group’s growth and sustainability

  • Review and recommend changes to investment policies based on market conditions

  • Lead investment decision-making processes, impacting cost of capital

  • Oversee day-to-day cash management, cash flow forecasting, and electronic banking systems

  • Develop and integrate the current treasury policy with the Group’s strategic direction

  • Prepare, monitor, and evaluate cash flow forecasts and financial modeling

  • Manage banking relationships and debt capital markets effectively

  • Evaluate long-term borrowing strategies and recommend optimal strategies based on capital structure guidelines

  • Handle all aspects of cash-related activities, ensuring security and control in payments and collections processes

  • Provide advisory support by offering financial analysis, reports, and recommendations to various business units

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, optimizing processes continuously

  • Develop and implement improvements in financial controls for accurate reporting and ongoing risk assessments

  • Guide the preparation of financial information for the Board of Directors and Audit Committee

  • Oversee budgeting and planning processes, ensuring business strategies are translated into actionable financial plans

  • Manage and consolidate Group Capex

  • Oversee and manage the payables function, ensuring smooth month-end and period-end closing activities

  • Ensure clear and updated communication with business units and customers, including third-party suppliers

  • Promote ownership and collaboration within the team to drive decisions and strategies

  • Ensure efficient resource planning across the area of responsibility to streamline work processes

  • Manage team performance to meet business objectives

  • Engage with stakeholders across the business to enhance communication and collaboration

  • Promote the employee charter, code of ethics, and BBBEE programs among management and staff

  • Support senior management in other divisions through interventions, mentoring, and succession planning

  • Manage succession planning within the area of responsibility

  • Ensure organization-wide adherence to corporate governance, legal, social, political, and ethical frameworks

  • Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and legislative frameworks within the scope of responsibilities

  • Establish governance principles in line with best practices, such as Group Policies and IFRS standards

  • Analyze and report financial results to the Board of Directors, ensuring compliance across all areas of tax within the group
