Growth Manager

Region: Pietermaritzburg (KZN)
Reporting to: General Manager

Overall Purpose of the Job:
The Growth Manager will drive the growth and overall management of sales, marketing, operations, technical, and administrative functions within the branch. The role is responsible for maintaining high operational standards, ensuring branch growth, meeting deadlines, achieving budget goals, and reducing crime levels.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Post-matric qualification in General Management is advantageous

  • Sales, Marketing, or Management diploma is advantageous

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience at the Mid-Management level

  • Financial knowledge of budgets, forecasting, and Profit and Loss

  • Grade B Security Certificate (existing or to be obtained on appointment)

  • Experience in the Security Industry is preferred

Duties & Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Provide consistent and strong leadership of the branch and its employees

  • Communicate the vision and strategy of the branch with passion and clarity

  • Make timely, considered decisions to support the long-term success and development of the branch

Finance, Planning & Controls:

  • Submit budget plans and stretch targets for all areas of the branch, ensuring continuous achievement

  • Submit monthly business plans, operating and sales budgets for the branch in line with regional requirements

  • Manage and ensure accurate forecasting for the branch in collaboration with Finance

  • Manage Branch P&L to sustain profitability and achieve growth

  • Ensure effective collections for the branch

Operations:

  • Establish and maintain planning and production controls across all areas to serve as key management tools

  • Enhance business functions to increase productivity, quality, and customer service, while reducing costs through modern process techniques

  • Foster a customer-focused quality improvement culture

  • Monitor customer service metrics and take prompt action to address any issues

  • Ensure consistent service levels throughout the branch and area

  • Engage with community-driven proactive service efforts through forums

  • Manage the branch fleet to ensure smooth operations without disruptions due to vehicle downtime

  • Conduct client visits to address contact crimes

Health, Safety, and Environment:

  • Maintain health & safety policies and working procedures

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, South African laws, codes of practice, and corporate guidelines

Marketing:

  • Drive marketing activations within the branch and develop an annual marketing plan

  • Enhance customer perception through addressing feedback from Customer Perception Surveys

  • Increase the branch’s social media presence by identifying influencers and building strong relationships

  • Promote a content-creation culture to stay relevant in the social media space

  • Ensure the implementation of relevant OTT strategies

  • Promote proactive and effective communications

Commercial:

  • Regularly review customer requirements and feedback

  • Maintain regular communication with customers

  • Work closely with the branch sales team

  • Identify new market and product opportunities via external routes

  • Resolve technical customer demand issues with commercially viable solutions

People Management:

  • Identify training and development needs among staff and provide coaching

  • Handle people management, HR-related issues, and staff development

  • Complete necessary paperwork for recruitment and termination of staff

Business Development:

  • Collaborate with operational managers to identify opportunities for Residential Guarding and bulk sales

  • Generate proposals for bulk business/Residential Guarding sites

  • Foster community involvement through operational collaborations and effective communication

  • Manage the profitability of Residential Guarding schemes

Attrition and Retention Management:

  • Manage all aspects of attrition with a focus on client retention

  • Drive reconnections within the branch

  • Analyze branch attrition and implement strategies to mitigate it

  • Manage sales channels to minimize exposure to bad debt and financial difficulties

Competencies (Technical & Behavioral):

  • Computer literate, with advanced proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and PowerPoint

  • Extensive knowledge of operations, sales, technical, and administrative functions
