Job Description

The Home Meal Replacement (HMR) Specialist is responsible for driving sales growth, profitability, and operational excellence within the HMR department. This role supports retailers through menu development, production planning, food safety compliance, and the implementation of innovative food trends to enhance customer appeal and performance.

Key Performance Areas

• Identify and implement opportunities to increase retailer HMR sales and gross profit

• Support stores with effective ranging and menu design for HMR departments

• Assist with recipe development, standardisation, and accurate recipe costings

• Guide stores on stock management and order control within the HMR department

• Support production planning to maximise efficiency and productivity

• Ensure implementation and adherence to hygiene and food safety standards

• Assist project managers with store revamps and new store openings related to HMR

• Advise on the selection, layout, and maintenance of HMR department equipment

• Provide training and support to retailers using the National Service Department Library

• Identify emerging food trends and implement relevant concepts in stores

Minimum Requirements

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

• Grade 12 qualification

• National Diploma in Food Service Management or a related qualification

• Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in food service and food preparation

• At least 1 year’s experience managing a kitchen environment

• Computer literacy and ability to work with retail systems

• Sound financial and business understanding

• Retail environment experience
