Value is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Inventory Controller to oversee and execute all inventory-related processes in alignment with company procedures and customer requirements. The successful candidate will ensure stock accuracy, manage inventory investigations, and support operational efficiency through accurate data and reporting.
Purpose of the Role
The Inventory Controller is responsible for ensuring all inventory procedures are followed correctly, stock is accurately recorded, and inventory-related issues are resolved promptly. This role plays a critical part in maintaining operational accuracy and minimising discrepancies across the warehouse operation.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Process Management

Follow and enforce Standard Operating Procedures for inventory control

Understand and operate relevant business systems effectively

Investigate inventory issues, implement corrective actions, and ensure sustainability of resolutions

Raise and complete NCRs, NCPs, and IOs for identified inventory concerns

Minimise claims and damages by ensuring stock is consistently accounted for
Storage and Handling

Consolidate pallets in replenishment areas to optimise space
-
Conduct regular spot checks on bin locations to ensure bin and stock accuracy
-
Monitor product handling to prevent damage and maintain quality
-
Apply correct units of measure and ensure alignment between physical and system records

Identify and record obsolete, expired, or non-moving stock
Master Data and WMS Management

Maintain accurate master data (product master) across all operations

Ensure product details are correctly uploaded upon receiving

Use WMS functions effectively and apply them as required
Stock Audits and Cycle Counts

Perform book-to-book audits regularly and resolve variances promptly

Conduct daily cycle counts to maintain high stock accuracy

Complete daily empty bin checks and report findings
-
Ensure proper preparation and execution of stock takes in line with company and client requirements

Submit accurate cycle count and stock take results to management and clients

Maintain complete and accessible records for all inventory audits and investigations
Reporting and KPI Management

Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports

Monitor and report on inventory KPIs

Investigate and address any KPI failures or variances
-
Analyse reports to identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Matric)
-
A diploma or degree in logistics, warehouse, or business management is advantageous

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a logistics or warehouse environment with a focus on inventory
