Purpose of the Role
The Inventory Controller is responsible for executing all inventory procedures in accordance with Value’s internal processes and client requirements. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of inventory records and maintains consistent reporting to support operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Processes

  • Adhere to standard operating procedures for inventory management and control.

  • Utilize business systems effectively to support inventory tasks.

  • Conduct investigations into inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

  • Complete NCRs, NCPs, and IOs as identified during inventory checks.

  • Maintain accountability for stock at all times, minimizing losses and damages.

Storage and Handling

  • Consolidate pallets in replenishment zones to optimize space.

  • Perform spot checks to verify bin location accuracy.

  • Ensure correct product handling to preserve quality and prevent damage.

  • Apply correct units of measure across inventory operations.

  • Verify alignment between physical stock and system data for product, location, and quantity.

  • Monitor and measure obsolete, expired, or slow-moving stock.

Master Data and WMS Management

  • Maintain accurate product master data across all operations.

  • Ensure timely and correct uploading of product information upon receiving.

  • Understand and apply Warehouse Management System (WMS) functionality appropriately.

Cycle Counts, Stock Takes, and Adjustments

  • Conduct book-to-book adjustments as scheduled and investigate any variances.

  • Execute daily cycle counts to uphold inventory accuracy with minimal discrepancies.

  • Perform daily empty bin checks and report findings.

  • Prepare and manage all stock take processes, ensuring accurate inventory reconciliation.

  • Communicate stock take and cycle count results to senior management and clients.

  • Keep all inventory records organized and readily accessible for audits or reference.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Deliver daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports to relevant stakeholders.

  • Monitor and report on inventory KPIs, addressing any shortfalls.

  • Investigate stock variances and support resolution efforts.

  • Analyze inventory reports to identify and implement process improvements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 (Matric)

  • Diploma or degree in logistics, warehouse, or business management (preferred)

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in inventory within the logistics or warehousing sector
