Junior Firefighter

Fidelity Group is currently seeking Junior Firefighters to assist in responding to and managing fire-related incidents.

As a Junior Firefighter, your primary responsibilities will include responding to fire incidents, emergency rescues, providing basic medical care, participating in fire prevention and training activities, and operating firefighting equipment and apparatus, all under supervision. Your role will contribute to protecting the lives and property of the Fidelity Group’s clients.

  • Respond to fires, rescues, and other emergency and non-emergency incidents, both humanitarian and hazardous.

  • Assist in incidents involving hazardous substances.

  • Help extricate and release casualties and perform emergency operations as directed by senior personnel.

  • Provide basic medical care, resuscitate, and treat injured persons under the guidance of senior staff.

  • Operate firefighting equipment and apparatus, including mobile and fixed breathing apparatus.

  • Conduct fire protection duties in situations that potentially threaten lives or property, ensuring the correct equipment is available and properly used.

  • Prepare for emergency incidents under the mentorship and supervision of seniors.

  • Participate in regular training drills, simulation exercises, and physical fitness training as directed.

  • Provide training to other employees on fire safety practices and procedures.

  • Advise on preventative and corrective actions, while also conducting health and safety inspections to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Perform basic maintenance on firefighting equipment and ensure it is operationally ready.

  • Maintain records of incidents through a computerized occurrence log.

  • Assist in driving and operating specialized firefighting vehicles and machinery when required.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies Required:

  • Minimum Grade 12 qualification.

  • IFSAC Accredited.

  • NFPA 1001 Firefighter II Certification.

  • Firefighting training with at least 2 years of related experience is essential.

  • A valid, unendorsed vehicle driver’s license.

  • Advanced driving experience is advantageous.

  • Must be medically and physically fit.

  • Knowledge of fire prevention procedures and firefighting systems.

  • Clear criminal record.

  • Ability to react quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.

  • Strong administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Hazmat experience and knowledge.

  • EMT Certification and First Aid levels 1 to 3.

Core Competencies:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Sound understanding of Hazmat guidelines.

  • Knowledge of the security industry and how to act within the code of conduct of the Group and Regulatory Authority.

  • Understanding of the fundamental elements related to firefighter instructor applications in an operational setting.
