Job Description
Positions are available for Junior Firefighters within the Fidelity Group to respond to and manage various fire-related incidents. As a Junior Firefighter, the primary responsibilities include responding to fire incidents, emergency rescue services, rendering basic medical care, and operating and maintaining firefighting equipment. This role plays an essential part in protecting the lives and property of Fidelity Group clients.
Key Responsibilities

Respond to fire incidents, rescues, and related emergency and non-emergency situations.

Assist with incidents involving hazardous substances.

Extricate and/or release casualties and perform emergency operations under supervision.

Resuscitate and treat injured persons, executing emergency procedures as directed by senior staff.

Operate firefighting equipment to control and extinguish fires.

Carry out fire protection duties in situations that threaten lives or property, ensuring available equipment is operational.

Prepare for emergency incidents under the guidance and mentorship of senior officers.

Participate in training drills, physical fitness training, and simulation exercises.

Assist in training other employees on fire safety and firefighting techniques.

Advise on fire prevention strategies and corrective actions.

Implement relevant procedures, strategies, and equipment to support local or national security efforts.

Perform basic maintenance tasks on firefighting equipment and vehicles to ensure operational readiness.

Maintain computerized records of daily occurrences and document all necessary details.

Conduct health and safety inspections to maintain a safe working environment.

Participate in Departmental Health and Safety Committee meetings.

Drive and operate a variety of specialized firefighting vehicles and equipment during emergency incidents.

Ensure firefighting apparatus is safely operated and maintained to protect lives and property.

Support Fire and Safety training, fire safety inspections, and life safety education.

Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act during the shift, conducting safety inspections and ensuring all protective clothing and safety procedures are followed.

Complete shift-related administrative tasks, maintaining prescribed records and registers as required by the Fire Chief.

Undertake supervisory and personnel-related functions as directed.
Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Grade 12 qualification.
-
IFSAC Accredited.
-
NFPA 1001 Firefighter II certification.
-
At least 2-3 years of firefighting training and relevant experience.

Valid Code C1 driver’s license with PrDP.

Advanced driving experience is advantageous.

Medically and physically fit for firefighting duties.

Sound knowledge and practice of fire prevention procedures.

Understanding of firefighting systems, including the classes and chemistry of fire.

Clear criminal record.
-
Ability to respond to emergencies in a timely and efficient manner.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer liaison skills.
-
Experience with Hazmat procedures and knowledge is essential.

EMT certification and First Aid (Levels 1 to 3) required.
