About the Program
Join a team where passion meets purpose! Sea Harvest is seeking a skilled Local Blockman to join our butchery team at our new store opening between Kayamandi and Cloetesville in Stellenbosch. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing top-quality meat products, maintaining strict hygiene standards, and providing excellent customer service.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 / Matric / Equivalent
• Prior experience as a Blockman
• Must comply with medical criteria required by the OHS Act for the butchery

• Skilled in cutting, manufacturing, and producing various meat products (testing required)
• Able to work in cold environments
• Physically capable of lifting carcasses and meat containers

Key Responsibilities

• Operate all butchery equipment, including the bandsaw
• Report defective equipment or utensils to the Butchery Manager
• Control, merchandise, and promote stock according to standards
• Prepare and break down meat carcasses according to specifications
• Debone meat cuts and manufacture mince, sausages, and boerewors
• Minimise wastage, shrinkage, and damages
• Check temperatures and maintain the cold chain
• Provide courteous and professional service to customers
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of butchery equipment and utensils
• Assist with receiving meat from suppliers
• Train staff on new products and lines
• Support stock take processes
