FlySafair is currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Maintenance Planner to join its Technical team. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient planning, coordination, and administration of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities across the airline’s fleet.
Key Responsibilities

Compile comprehensive work packs for upcoming aircraft maintenance checks, including notification to stores for NDT services and component requirements.

Ensure work orders are accurately compiled and submitted to the Maintenance Repair Organisation (MRO) within the required timelines.

Create and manage work orders for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, including aircraft in storage.

Follow up on all open work orders and ensure they are completed and closed out correctly.

Review and verify the accuracy of completed work orders.

Close work orders from outstations and the MRO after maintenance is completed.

Perform component movement transactions linked to MRO work orders.

Communicate work order findings and QA/QC feedback to relevant departments.

Support with capturing and filing Aircraft Technical Log Reports (ATLRs) when necessary.

Coordinate aircraft and component extensions in accordance with the Approved Maintenance Programme (AMP).

Update maintenance schedules and load new components into the MRO system.

Ensure all installed components are properly controlled and linked to the correct release documentation.

Maintain accurate logbooks for aircraft and major modules.

Update the maintenance system with Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins (SBs), Engineering Orders (EOs), and Alert SBs (ASBs), ensuring timeous compliance.

Issue Certificates of Release to Service (CRS) and Certificates Related to Maintenance of an Aircraft (CRMA) upon completion of maintenance.

Provide required information and reports to other departments upon request.

Attend and contribute to scheduled maintenance survey and post-mortem meetings, offering recommendations for process improvements.

Remain updated on all relevant aviation regulations, internal policies, and maintenance guidelines.

Liaise with the Maintenance Planning Specialist to coordinate scheduling and necessary downtime for aircraft.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)

Technical Diploma (Advantageous)

Trade qualification in aviation (Advantageous)

Certificate in Maintenance Planning (Advantageous)

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aircraft maintenance planning (Essential)

Familiarity with technical maintenance systems (Advantageous)

Willingness to travel domestically and internationally

Availability to work overtime as required
