Flysafair is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Manager: Operations Support to oversee and optimise critical operational functions, including airport slot management, navigation systems, fuel usage, regulatory compliance, and team leadership. This role requires a deep understanding of aviation operations and strong management capabilities to support organisational efficiency and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to annual budget planning and manage cost efficiencies through supplier negotiations

• Oversee and renegotiate service provider contracts based on operational needs

• Manage initial IATA airport slot submissions and align schedules accordingly

• Maintain and improve navigation platforms to ensure optimisation and compliance

• Stay informed on current travel policies and cross-border operational requirements

• Ensure compliance with post-flight documentation as per regulatory standards

• Manage the Jumpseat booking procedures and relevant interdepartmental communications

• Monitor and enhance compliance with airport slot performance

• Participate in briefings related to contract flying and ensure adherence to contractual obligations

• Compile and manage fuel projections based on detailed fuel usage analysis

• Oversee seasonal slot management and ensure accurate submissions

• Manage all audits related to 90-day documentation retention compliance

• Maintain and review manuals and work instructions annually to ensure relevance and compliance

• Deliver monthly reports on functional performance, fuel usage, and statistical insights to senior management and relevant departments

• Provide leadership and oversight to the operations support team, ensuring alignment with business goals

• Set team objectives, promote productivity, and foster a collaborative work environment

• Identify skill gaps for development and succession planning

• Drive effective internal communication and oversee the completion of complex projects within deadlines

• Establish and maintain strong working relationships with CAMU, airport authorities, regulators, and service providers to support operational continuity

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 or equivalent qualification

• Qualification in Flight Operational Management is advantageous

• At least 10 years of aviation experience, including 5 years in a management role

• Expertise in aircraft performance and navigation, IATA slot management, fuel monitoring, and operations support

• Familiarity with IOSA and SACAA audit requirements and related documentation

• Availability to work outside regular office hours, including weekends, as needed

• Strong computer literacy and thorough knowledge in the following areas:

  • IATA slot processes

  • SACAA regulations on 90-day document retention

  • Navigation systems and company travel protocols

  • Audit compliance and engagement procedures
