Dischem Vacancies – Merchandiser – Potchefstroom

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Merchandiser for their Potchefstroom location in the North West Region. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Dis-Chem’s basic merchandising standards are executed and maintained while delivering exceptional customer service.

Minimum Requirements:

Essential:

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • Up to 6 months’ retail experience

  • Computer literate – MS Office

  • Willing and able to work retail hours

Advantageous:

  • At least 1 year of retail experience

Job Description:

  • Restock merchandise as required to optimize sales.

  • Ensure delivered stock and stock from the storeroom is stored and packed correctly in a timely manner.

  • Monitor and ensure stock on shelves has not reached its sell-by date.

  • Maintain a full range of products on the shelves at all times.

  • Facilitate regular stock rotation, adhering to the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.

  • Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management.

  • Assist with the counting of stock files and general stocktaking.

  • Adhere to Dis-Chem’s operating standards, store layout, and planograms.

  • Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and ensure they are taken to the designated area.

  • Ensure that front shop shelves and products are neatly presented with correct labels and pricing.

  • Report any price discrepancies to management.

  • Stay up to date with current and new products.

  • Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays.

  • Take responsibility for the physical upkeep of store merchandise displays, as well as designated stock in the storeroom and on the shop floor.

  • Assist with loading and off-loading of stock.

  • Ensure items without barcodes are clearly marked.

  • Provide assistance with back shopping.

  • Assist in training new staff.

  • Offer friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to all customers.

  • Follow up on out-of-stock queries from customers using the customer service out-of-stock list.

  • Ensure that all customer stock queries are resolved efficiently.

  • Adhere to company dress code, including the correct uniform and badge.

  • Handle all merchandise carefully to minimize losses.

  • Follow Dis-Chem policies, procedures, SOPs, and health and safety regulations.

Competencies:

Essential:

  • Strong command of the English language

  • Presentable and professional appearance

  • Ability to engage effectively with customers, management, and staff

  • Trustworthy and honest

  • Excellent time management skills

Advantageous:

  • Bilingual

  • Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry

  • Product and category knowledge

  • Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for ordering and stocktaking

  • Ability to report suspicious behavior from both staff and customers

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willing and able to work retail hours

  • Able and physically fit to lift and move heavy boxes while adhering to health and safety standards

  • Reliable transport and/or reside in close proximity to the store

  • South African citizen

  • Clear credit and criminal records
