Job Overview

The Operations Manager is responsible for driving operational excellence by achieving financial targets, optimizing resource utilization, ensuring asset integrity, and delivering high service levels across the supply chain. This role focuses on performance management, stakeholder engagement, compliance, and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve budgeted and agreed financial performance targets

  • Optimize the utilization of people resources to drive productivity and operational efficiency

  • Ensure accountability for the maintenance of company assets to meet health and safety standards and support a safe, enabled working environment

  • Analyse and interpret key operational metrics to identify process improvements and enhance financial performance

  • Engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve queries efficiently and ensure adherence to service level agreements and legal requirements

  • Lead and manage teams to ensure consistent process compliance with company SOPs, cut-offs, and daily reporting requirements

  • Manage labour brokers in line with service level agreements, including performance reviews, cost control, and approvals

  • Deliver high service levels to stores through accurate, on-time deliveries, minimal damages, and effective communication

  • Manage transporters to ensure compliance with agreed service level agreements

Knowledge Requirements

  • Strong understanding of business demand conceptualisation

  • Technical and systems knowledge of supply chain and logistics applications and processes

  • Experience implementing and managing complex picking systems and supporting technologies

  • Solid knowledge of health and safety standards and practices

Desirable Knowledge

  • Project management concepts, methodologies, and tools

  • Basic understanding of labour relations legislation

Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Sound financial management capability

  • High level of computer literacy

  • Ability to collaborate with business stakeholders and translate requirements into practical process and system solutions

  • Ability to conceptualise, design, and lead the implementation of complex operational systems

  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex business and technical challenges

  • Effective change management and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
