Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified Pharmacist for their Claremont, Cavendish Square store. The primary responsibility of this role is to provide pharmaceutical care, taking accountability for patients’ medicine-related needs and ensuring that these needs are met effectively. As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for evaluating medication safety, dispensing prescriptions, and providing expert advice to patients.
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 / Matric BPharm or equivalent qualification

FRegistered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

2-3 years of experience in pharmaceutical care

2-3 years of retail pharmacy experience (Student/Intern)

Computer literate – MS Office

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide pharmaceutical care by assessing patients’ medicine-related needs, ensuring safety, effectiveness, and compliance with therapy.

Dispense medication according to prescriptions and ensure accuracy in all dispensing activities.

Oversee and check prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns, ensuring compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) standards.

Offer medication-related information and advice to patients, ensuring they understand proper usage.
-
Evaluate patient compliance with prescribed therapy and conduct follow-ups to ensure medicine-related needs are met.

Provide pharmacist-initiated therapy and assist in the compounding, preparation, and packaging of medicines.

Manage the purchasing, acquiring, storing, and distributing of medicines or scheduled substances in compliance with regulations.

Apply for the registration of medicines in accordance with the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act.

Formulate medicines for registration purposes and supervise the manufacturing of medicines as required.

Accurately interpret prescriptions and adhere to professional standards set by the South African Pharmaceutical Council.

Capture patient and prescription details in the system accurately.

Ensure correct picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medications, including awareness of dosages and drug interactions.

Advise patients on the correct use of medications and provide appropriate instructions.

Stay informed about medical aid procedures and ensure accurate submission of claims.

Follow up on prescription tracking reports and patient appointments as requested by the dispensary manager.

Assist with stock management, including reporting low stock levels and facilitating stock take processes.

Ensure all stock control processes are adhered to, maintaining accuracy in inventory and documentation.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the dispensary in line with Dis-Chem standards.

Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
