Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified Pharmacist for their Montana store. The role will focus on providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to patients by taking responsibility for their medication-related needs and ensuring those needs are met effectively and efficiently.
Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 / Matric

BPharm or equivalent qualification

Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

2-3 years of pharmaceutical experience

2-3 years of retail pharmacy experience (Student/Intern)

Duties and Responsibilities:
-
Take responsibility for patients’ medicine-related needs by ensuring the safe and effective use of therapy.
-
Dispense medications based on prescriptions and verify their correctness.
-
Review prescriptions prepared by assistants or interns and ensure compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP).
-
Provide medication-related information and advice to patients.
-
Monitor patient compliance with prescribed therapies and follow up to ensure continued care.
-
Initiate pharmacist-led therapy when appropriate.
-
Supervise and manage the compounding, preparation, and packaging of medicines or scheduled substances.
-
Handle the purchasing, storage, and distribution of medicines in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
-
Oversee the application process for the registration of medicines under the Medicines Act and Pharmacy Act.
-
Accurately interpret prescriptions and operate in line with South African Pharmaceutical Council regulations.
-
Ensure accurate picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medications, while being mindful of dosages and drug interactions.

Provide clear instructions to patients on how to properly use their medications.
-
Stay updated on medical aid procedures and the requirements for claims and dispensing.

Assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front-shop with relevant advice and service.

Follow up with patients regarding prescription tracking and appointments as needed.

Ensure that all medical aid claims and associated paperwork are processed accurately and promptly.

Correct any errors with scripts rejected by medical aids and ensure authorization for chronic, HIV, AIDS, and oncology medications.

Maintain patient profiles and ensure they are updated regularly.

Report low stock levels and assist with stock control, including facilitating bi-annual stock takes.

Follow proper procedures for stock management and adhere to Dis-Chem standards for cleanliness and safety.

Comply with Dis-Chem policies, health and safety regulations, and uniform standards.
