Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a reliable and experienced Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join the team at our George, Garden Route Mall branch. The role involves providing high-quality pharmaceutical care, ensuring patient medicine-related needs are met responsibly and professionally in line with legal and ethical standards.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric

Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
-
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
-
Practical experience using Unisolv
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
-
Strong numerical skills
-
Fluency in English and a second language
-
Willing and able to work retail hours
Preferred Experience and Skills
-
Familiarity with retail or FMCG operations
-
Knowledge of SAP and E-Scripting systems
-
Fluency in a third language
-
Understanding of family planning and complementary medicine
Responsibilities
-
Assist in the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines in compliance with pharmacy regulations
-
Support the compounding, preparation, and packaging of non-sterile medicines under pharmacist supervision
-
Assist with manufacturing and repackaging of medicines following SOPs
-
Manage the distribution and control of Schedule 1 to 5 substances
-
Process orders for medication, including Schedule 6 items, as per authorised instruction
-
Accurately interpret prescriptions, select appropriate medicine, and assist with compounding and labelling
-
Capture and verify prescription and patient information on the system
-
Dispense and check medication for accuracy, dosage, and interactions
-
Provide clear usage instructions to patients and promote adherence
-
Stay informed on medical aid procedures and ensure accurate claims submission
-
Ensure all dispensed medicine is checked and signed by a registered pharmacist
-
Advise customers on self-medication and front-shop products
-
Follow up with patients regarding script tracking and appointment reminders
-
Explain medical aid benefits and costs to patients
-
Maintain and update patient profiles, including handling local and central profile merges
-
Address messages and flags on customer profiles appropriately
-
Monitor stock levels and report any discrepancies to the dispensary manager
-
Receive and merchandise stock in line with FEFO and Dis-Chem procedures

Participate in bi-annual stock counts and assist with accurate inventory control
-
Maintain control over stock, cash, and pharmacy assets
