Dis-Chem Pharmacies is currently recruiting for a reliable and professional Post Basic Qualified Pharmacist Assistant to join the team at our Glen Acres branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering pharmaceutical care by addressing patients’ medicine-related needs and ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric

Basic Pharmacist Assistant qualification
-
Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)
-
Working experience with Unisolv system
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office
-
Strong numerical and analytical skills
-
Fluent in English and a second language
-
Willingness and availability to work retail hours
Preferred Experience and Skills
-
Experience in retail or FMCG environment
-
Fluency in a third language
-
Familiarity with SAP and E-Scripting systems
-
Knowledge of drug and family planning products, as well as complementary medicine
Responsibilities
-
Assist with the sale of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 medicines in accordance with legal guidelines
-
Support the compounding, preparation, and labelling of non-sterile medicines under pharmacist supervision
-
Participate in the manufacturing and re-packaging of non-sterile products following approved SOPs
-
Assist in managing the stock of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 substances
-
Process orders for scheduled medication up to and including Schedule 6
-
Interpret prescriptions, assist in compounding, and ensure correct labelling and packaging
-
Capture and verify prescription and patient information accurately in the system
-
Ensure correct picking, packing, and labelling of medicines and monitor for common drug interactions
-
Educate patients on correct medicine usage and promote responsible medicine practices
-
Stay informed of changes to medical aid policies, claims procedures, and dispensing regulations
-
Ensure all medicine dispensed is verified and signed by a pharmacist
-
Provide support and advice to patients in the dispensary, self-medication, and front-shop areas
-
Follow up with patients on script tracking reports and upcoming appointments
-
Clarify medical aid costs and coverage with patients
-
Maintain updated and accurate customer profiles
-
Merge profiles locally and communicate with UCS to manage central records
-
Act on customer profile messages where applicable
-
Report stock shortages or errors to the dispensary manager
-
Receive stock as per company SOPs and follow FEFO guidelines when merchandising
-
Support bi-annual stock take processes
-
Maintain stock, cash, and asset control as per company standards
