Lactalis South Africa is looking for an experienced and motivated Production Coordinator to join the team at our Ladismith plant, specifically within the Milk Pasteurising department. This role is critical in ensuring efficient production processes by managing GMP compliance, mass balancing, and milk processing operations such as blending and UF/RO systems. The successful candidate will also lead initiatives to minimise fat and protein losses while ensuring cost reduction, product quality, and adherence to safety standards.

The Production Coordinator will play a key role in daily operational management and continuous improvement, contributing directly to the company’s growth objectives and long-term production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations related to GMP, mass balancing, milk blending, and milk UF/RO processes.

• Drive and participate in initiatives to reduce fat and protein losses and overall production costs.

• Ensure discipline and compliance with general factory rules and procedures.

• Work closely with the maintenance department to maintain all equipment in optimal condition.

• Monitor quality control checkpoints and ensure tests are performed to standard.

• Manage BPCS transactions accurately and efficiently.

• Monitor and manage budget usage related to the production process.

• Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement across the production team.

• Coordinate and ensure participation in training programs related to ISO, HACCP, and NOSA standards.

• Ensure completion of administrative documentation and control sheets as required.

• Evaluate performance of direct reports and manage daily activities through KRONOS.

• Prepare and present production reports, identifying deviations, root causes, and corrective actions.

Minimum Requirements

• Relevant post-matric qualification in production management or dairy manufacturing (NQF Level 4 or higher).

• Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience in a production environment.

• Solid knowledge of BPCS and mass balancing systems.

• Proven ability to build and manage effective teams.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• High attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to remain calm and assertive under pressure.

• Strong knowledge of Health and Safety practices.

• Computer literacy is essential.

• A valid Code EB driver’s license is advantageous.

• Willingness to work weekends as required.
