Dischem Vacancies – Receiving Clerk

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for a detail-oriented Receiving Clerk to join the team at our Paarl Mall store. The role involves ensuring that stock is received, checked, and packed efficiently and accurately in accordance with Dis-Chem’s standard operating procedures and customer service standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric

  • Computer literacy

  • Strong numerical ability

  • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays

Advantageous Experience

  • Previous experience in receiving, retail, or FMCG environments

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify, scan, and capture all physical goods received according to company policies and SOPs

  • Receive stock from the warehouse and external suppliers with accuracy and attention to detail

  • Handle and document all returns, damaged goods, and non-conforming deliveries with correct credit procedures

  • Check that received goods match invoices in quantity, condition, and product type

  • Support the Receiving Manager with warehouse claim preparation and system updates

  • Ensure stock is receipted and moved to the shop floor the same day it arrives

  • Maintain control of goods received area and ensure security protocols are followed

  • Keep storerooms clean, well-organized, and compliant with company standards

  • Assist with monitoring and securing high-risk items

  • Process returns to suppliers in line with company procedures

Required Competencies

  • Solid understanding of receiving processes and administration

  • Proficient in English (spoken and written)

  • Able to interact effectively with suppliers, store teams, and management

  • Good problem-solving and time management skills

  • Physically capable of lifting items over 20kg

Preferred Competencies

  • Bilingual communication skills

  • Familiarity with stock rotation systems

Conditions of Employment

  • Willing and available to work retail hours

  • Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks

  • Reside in close proximity to the store or have reliable transport

  • South African citizenship

  • Clear credit and criminal record
