Dis-Chem Pharmacies is actively building a strategic talent pool of Retail Store Assistants for various store locations nationwide. This talent pool is designed to have a pre-screened group of candidates with the right skills and attributes to fill future positions as they become available.
Purpose of the Role
The role of a Retail Store Assistant is to support the overall store operations and ensure all administrative and customer service functions are performed according to Dis-Chem’s standard policies and procedures.
Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric
-
Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)

Familiarity with SAP systems
-
Previous experience in a retail environment
Key Responsibilities
-
Address and report customer compliments and complaints to management
-
Build and maintain professional customer relationships
-
Resolve customer queries regarding stock and product availability
-
Handle and follow up on customer enquiries, directing them to appropriate departments when necessary
-
Adhere to company benchmark on customer turnover per hour
-
Monitor shorts and overs at point of sale, including float variances
-
Manage returns and refund transactions accurately
-
Handle back shopping and returned items according to policy
-
Review and verify deliveries and invoices for accuracy

Assist Receiving Manager with Distribution Centre claims processing

Manage and secure high-risk stock
-
Conduct daily run reconciliations
-
Order and receive branch change to support smooth cashier operations
-
Maintain proper communication between departments and external parties
-
Ensure proper control and filing of documents, including floats, petty cash, and cash on hand
