Flysafair is seeking a qualified Safety Officer AMO to join the team and take responsibility for safety-related audits, incident investigations, risk management, and compliance monitoring within the aviation maintenance environment.
Job Description

Conduct safety audits to assess and improve safety standards in the Aircraft Maintenance Organisation (AMO).

Identify latent hazards and perform risk management analyses to mitigate potential risks.
-
Investigate, analyze, and determine the root cause of hazards, incidents, and accidents.

Ensure that adequate mitigation strategies are in place for identified safety risks.
-
Maintain and manage the internal safety data system to monitor and analyze trends related to hazards, incidents, and accidents.
-
Continuously monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions implemented in response to safety issues.

Stay updated on safety concerns within the civil aviation industry and their potential impact on FlySafair operations.
-
Coordinate and manage the aviation safety programme within the organisation, ensuring all safety-related matters are addressed.

Collaborate with the training department to ensure employees receive necessary safety training.
-
Investigate all incidents and accidents involving FlySafair’s assets, and manage the distribution of safety reports.
-
Work with the security team to ensure that the safety and security programmes are implemented effectively.

Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to track aircraft component reliability and service provider audits.

Support the organization’s emergency response plan and assist in related safety training.

Assist the Quality Assurance Manager with audits and compliance-related activities.
-
Distribute safety bulletins to all staff and promote safety awareness across the organisation.

Organize meetings with relevant personnel to discuss and address safety issues.
-
Ensure that all safety equipment is maintained in an operable state.

Conduct safety risk audits and actively participate in both Authority (CAA) and external audits.

Assist the OSHE Officer with the administration of the OHSE programme.

Build and maintain long-term relationships with key internal and external stakeholders concerning safety matters.

Supervise external stakeholders on all safety-related issues concerning assets.
Job Requirements
-
Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).
-
A minimum of 5 years of experience managing an Aviation Safety programme (Essential).
-
Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (Current or Expired) (Essential).
-
Certification in Human Factors in Aviation (Essential).
-
“Train the Trainer” qualification (Essential).
-
Aviation Auditor certification (Essential).
-
Safety Management Systems for Aviation certification (Essential).
-
Lead Auditor certification (Advantageous).
-
Experience in Accident and Incident Investigation (Preferred).
-
Fully computer literate (MS Office).

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
