Flysafair is currently looking for a Safety Officer AOC to join the team and ensure the highest standards of safety management across the airline’s operations. This role involves overseeing safety audits, incident investigations, risk management, and ensuring compliance with aviation safety regulations.
Job Description

Conduct safety audits across operations to assess and improve safety performance.

Identify latent hazards, perform risk management analysis, and recommend mitigation measures.

Investigate, analyze, and determine the root cause of incidents and accidents.

Ensure that the operator has effective safety risk mitigation strategies in place.
-
Maintain and monitor the internal safety data system to track trends in hazards, incidents, and accidents.
-
Evaluate the results of corrective actions implemented in response to identified safety risks.
-
Monitor safety-related concerns from the civil aviation industry and their impact on FlySafair operations.
-
Coordinate and oversee the aviation safety programme within the organization.

Work with the training department to ensure relevant safety training is provided to employees.

Investigate all incidents and accidents involving the organization’s assets and ensure accurate reporting.

Distribute all accident, incident, and safety reports to relevant parties.
-
Collaborate with the security team to ensure that all aspects of the security programme are enforced.

Partner with the Quality Assurance department to monitor aircraft component reliability and service provider audits.

Support the company’s emergency response plan and assist in related training.

Contribute to compliance audits in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Manager.

Disseminate safety bulletins and safety information to all staff.

Promote safety awareness within the organization based on safety data and trends.

Lead safety-related meetings and discussions with key personnel across departments.

Ensure the operability and maintenance of safety equipment.

Conduct safety risk audits and participate in Authority (CAA) and external audits.

Assist with the administration of the OHSE programme alongside the OSHE Officer.

Build long-term relationships with both internal and external stakeholders regarding safety matters.

Oversee external stakeholders with respect to safety issues in and around assets.
Job Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential).
-
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in managing an Aviation Safety programme (Essential).

Certification in Human Factors in Aviation (Essential).

Train the Trainer certification (Essential).
-
Aviation Auditor certification (Essential).
-
Safety Management Systems for Aviation certification (Essential).
-
Lead Auditor qualification (Advantageous).
-
Experience in Accident and Incident Investigation (Preferred).

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be organized and able to perform under pressure.

Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.

Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks.
